On a daily basis Officers participate in traffic enforcement throughout the Village. Below is a summary of some of the specific traffic enforcement details Officers participated in during 2006:
DUI campaign over the St. Patrick’s Day holiday weekend. During the campaign, 3 DUI arrests were made, 7 speeding citations were issued, and 15 miscellaneous citations were issued.
The police department participated in the National Click it or Ticket seatbelt enforcement campaign from May 22nd to June 4th.
255 citations were written during the Fourth of July seatbelt campaign.
The Community Service Officer Unit (CSO) consists of six full-time civilian employees. Five work with patrol under the direction of the Sergeants and one works in the Evidence and Recovered Property Unit. One of the CSOs works directly with Building and Zoning investigating possible ordinance violations and taking the steps necessary to ensure compliance. The CSOs have many responsibilities including animal control, traffic direction, parking enforcement, private property accidents, and assisting patrol/administration with various tasks.
