Woodridge Issues Proclamation of Emergency

A Message From Mayor Gina Cunningham
Woodridge Issues Proclamation of Emergency

Dear Neighbors,

The Village trustees and I value the safety and well-being of Woodridge as our top priority. To establish the legal authority for prompt resource mobilization, and establish the processes required for any possible federal or state disaster relief funds for our community, there is now a Proclamation of Emergency in Woodridge. The declaration is mainly procedural and is valid until Tuesday, March 24 at 2 p.m.. This critical step helps us confront COVID-19 in the following ways:
  1. Purchasing – the Village may enter into contracts for the emergency purchase of goods and services.
  2. Staffing – authorizes the Village Administrator, Al Stonitsch, the authority to implement emergency staffing protocols for public health and safety.
  3. Authority to closely cooperate with agencies – allows Woodridge to coordinate resources more effectively with the federal, state, and county levels of government.
After the seven-day period, the Village Board and I must have an open meeting to extend the emergency proclamation. It is critical to act quickly and decisively as we confront the challenge of this pandemic, and we join other local governments in declaring an emergency proclamation. This emergency proclamation is an important step forward for Woodridge – it will allow us to rapidly utilize every resource available to benefit our community.

Thank you and Best Regards,
Mayor Gina Cunningham
