About the Citizen's Police Academy
The 10-week program consists of weekly two hour sessions on Wednesdays that includes a graduation ceremony.  The Academy starts on January 15, 2020, and the hours for each session are 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

The Citizen's Police Academy (CPA) is a part of the Woodridge Police Department’s Community Outreach Unit designed to reduce and prevent crime, improve communication, and maintain partnerships with the community. CPA participants gain a working knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures of the Woodridge Police Department. There is NO COST to anyone who participates in the academy.

Officers designed the academy to incorporate lecture and scenario-based formats.  The instructors are certified police officers, supervisors, and other department personnel with expertise in various areas. The curriculum consists of support services  and  community programs,  Illinois Vehicle Code, DUI, criminal law, case law, evidence collection, SWAT, defensive tactics, and traffic stops. The Citizen’s Police Academy provides an excellent opportunity for people who live or work in Village to learn about how the police department operates on a daily basis.
