About the Citizen's Police Academy
Application: 2019 Citizen's Police Academy

The Citizen's Police Academy (CPA) is a part of the Woodridge Police Department’s Community Outreach Unit designed to reduce and prevent crime, improve communication, and maintain partnerships with the community. CPA participants gain a working knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures of the Woodridge Police Department. There is NO COST to anyone who participates in the academy. 
Applications for the class of 2019 are now open.

The 10 week program consists of weekly two hour sessions, including a graduation ceremony.  Officers designed the class to incorporate lecture and scenario-based formats.  Instructors are certified police officers, supervisors, and other department personnel with expertise in various areas. The curriculum consists of support  services  and  community programs,  Illinois Vehicle Code, DUI, criminal law, case law, evidence collection, SWAT, defensive tactics, and traffic stops.

The class will start on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 and will meet every Wednesday at the Woodridge Police Department from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. for ten weeks. The graduation ceremony will take place during the tenth week on March 20, 2019.

Application Process
Please complete the application to apply to participate in the Citizen Police Academy Class of 2019. Those who wish to apply should bring their completed application and a government issued ID (for a photocopy) to the Woodridge Police Department located at 1 Plaza Drive during business hours (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The Police Department will also accept applications in person on Thursday, December 6 from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Village Hall (5 Plaza Drive) prior to the Village Board meeting. Applicants are required to apply in person - applications sent via email or USPS are not accepted. The application deadline is Friday, Dec. 14 at noon.

Please note that applicants must meet the following criteria:
1.    Be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2019
2.    Live, work, or be associated with the Village of Woodridge
3.    No felony arrests
4.    Have no misdemeanor convictions
5.    A background investigation and criminal history check will be conducted

The Woodridge Police Department reserves the right to exclude any applicant from consideration or participation.
