Financial Relief options for Woodridge Residents
The Village wants to share some resources for our homeowners and renters as it relates to financial relief.
(1) Peoples Resource Center offers emergency rent and mortgage assistance - click here for information.
(2) DuPage County Housing Assistance Program helps stabilize individuals and families in their existing homes, shorten the amount of time families and individuals stay in shelter, and assist individuals and families with securing affordable housing.
(3) The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation provided a press release with information to help consumers struggling to make payments on their debts, including rent and mortgage payments.

Utility Information

Groot Garbage / Recycling:Effective March 23, Groot is applying the following temporary policies to help protect drivers and keep customers safe. At this time, yard waste and recycling service is unaffected by the changes; however, Groot anticipates potential changes to yard waste and recycling programs. The temporary policies include:

1. Loose uncontained items will not be collected.
All trash/refuse and recycling must be placed in a company designated cart, a can with handles, or bagged. Loose uncontained items will not be collected. More specifically:

2. All bulky item/construction debris collection is suspended until further notice.
No large items should be placed alongside garbage carts at this time.

3. All white good / e-waste collection is suspended until further notice.
Information updates will be shared immediately if circumstances change that may impact Groot's ability to provide services as scheduled. The waste collection industry as a whole is applying these polices to help keep everyone safe.

DuPage County: DuPage County has developed a
comprehensive list of the County services that are still available, limited, or suspended at this time.

Utilities: The Citizen's Utility Board (CUB) is maintaining a list of utility companies and their response to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Many utility companies are suspending disconnection and late-payment charges. View the list here, including information on Comcast, Nicor, and ComEd.

Village Drop-Box:
The Village of Woodridge has a new drop-box on loan from the Woodridge Library. Outside of Village Hall is a large, identifiable drop-box. Please submit payments, plans, and other Village documents.

UPDATE - March 20, 2020
The Village of Woodridge held a Specially Called Meeting of the Village Board on Friday, March 20 at 3:00 PM at Village Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to take action related to the COVID-19 Pandemic and other necessary action items. OUR RESIDENTS
The Village continues working with federal, state, and local agencies to communicate information regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and preventative steps people can take to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. The Village understands that at this, as information is rapidly evolving, there are many implications for our residents. As such the Village Board and Village have taken the following measures (click on the below links for more information):
  • Mayor and Village Board to Postpone Vote on Tax Revenue
  • Village Suspends Water Disconnections & Water Late Payment Penalties until Further Notice
  • Woodridge Amends Liquor Licenses for Restaurants; Extends Business Licenses for 90 Days

  • What you can do to minimize risk...
    The Illinois Department of Health has also listed every day actions that people can take to prevent the spread of disease including:
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
    • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
    • Stay home when you are sick.
    • While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible
    • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
    • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

    OUR OLDER ADULTS
    During this pandemic one of greatest concerns is the social isolation of older adults. We are working to educate residents and loved ones on opportunities to help one another and suggest researching technology opportunities to stay connected.

    A listing of resources for aging adults has been provided from AgeGuide. This agency provides senior services, including essential services such as Home Delivery Meals. Please click here to access the guide.

    If you have the opportunity, please check in on your neighbors.

    It has come to the Village's attention that the local Jewel-Osco, 2317 75th Street, and all other Jewel-Osco stores, are asking kindly to allow for senior shoppers between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Also, the Shop & Save in Downers Grove has senior shopping between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m.

    The Woodridge Police Department wants to remind everyone to be aware of scams that may arise out of people's interest looking for information or people trying to take advantage of the situation.     OUR PUBLIC BUILDINGS AND PROGRAMS
    Effective Monday, March 16 at Noon, Village Hall and Public Works buildings closed to the public until further notice. The Police Department will remain open for walk-in services.

    Village offices can continue to be reached by phone and email.

    The Center for Disease Control recommends that event organizers postpone, cancel, or offer virtual participation for community events expected to have more than 50 people for at least eight (8) weeks (as of March 16, 2020). Also, the DuPage County Health Department recommends canceling gatherings of 10 or more older adults because they are a high-risk population. As such, the Village has canceled the following Village events:


    • Census STEM Family Fun Day on March 21, 2020
    • Senior Census Lunch at the Library on April 1, 2020
    • Census Breakfast at the Park District on April 10, 2020
    • The Citizen's Police Academy Graduation, scheduled for March 18, 2020 - has been postponed until further notice.
    • Community Open House on April 30, 2020

    For other program cancellations or closings, please contact the appropriate agency for the status of the program or class.
